Halton Brook Residents Association and CWUHA Deliver Christmas Smiles to hundreds of Children

As a charity, we consistently support community initiatives across the UK. In December, Emma Garner, CWU Policy Advisor and local councillor, approached us to assist with a project in her area. The Halton rook Residents Association aimed to provide advent calendars to every child in schools and nurseries in Halton Brook, one of the most deprived areas in the country.

The Halton Brook estate, near Emma’s home, experiences some of the highest levels of deprivation in Halton, which ranks 39th out of 317 local authorities in England for deprivation.

The Resident’s Association is highly active in the community. Recently, they organised a trip to Llandudno and will take families to see the Blackpool illuminations next month.

Their goal is to involve more families in the volunteer group and raise awareness of available support, such as local Family Hubs and free library sessions for children.

They contacted Cadbury, who offered a generous discount. The total cost was £1,090, and the Association had already secured a £500 donation. CWUHA trustees were pleased to contribute the remaining £590, enabling the purchase of the Advent calendars.

Supporting community groups like The Halton Brook Residents Association is especially rewarding for us, as they share our commitment to using donations primarily to bring joy and make a positive impact.
