2017 has once again been a very eventful year for CWUHA, with a number of ongoing projects and three convoys to Lithuania and Moldova.

In 2017 CWUHA helped to pay for a new roof for the Phoenix Centre, staff wages, staff training, utility bills and food for the children who attend the centre.

We still support the school in Tanzania, by sponsoring children’s education and funding teachers’ salaries.  The library and computer centre has now been completed, allowing the youngsters to learn new skills for modern day living.

In May and September 2017 we delivered tones of humanitarian aid in BT, Royal Mail, AnPost and Eire

wagons direct to rundown Children’s hospitals, nurseries’ disabled centres and orphanages in Lithuania and Moldova. Hundreds of vulnerable families with 2 or more children were given boxes of food, clothing and toiletries. The drivers also delivered household goods and disability equipment to the CWUHA supported Phoenix Centre and more building materials for phase 2 of the project.

In May 2017 – we ran our 2nd U-13/14 CWUHA Annual Football Tournament in Moldova. More than 180 children took part – 60 more than 2016.  With the support of Pellacraft we supplied an additional 6 football kits, training equipment, footballs and every single player – 180 of them – received a medal, certificate and a goodie bag. Once again national TV covered the event along with a number of radio stations. The smiles on the faces of the kids and the coaches make all the hard work so worthwhile.

It would be remiss of us not to thank branches and members in the North West Region for their fantastic continued support. Without which we would be unable to continue this much needed work
