Pictured are Carl Webb and Alex Pearson receiving a cheque from Steve
Fitzpatrick, General Secretary and Monica Hempenstall, Finance Officer CWU
Ireland, for 7000 euros, the money will be used to purchase desperately
needed hospital equipment for the Mother and baby Hospital in Tiraspol.

The presentation was made in the Irish CWU office where Carl and Alex
attended a meeting to discuss the two great unions cooperating during the
September 2008 convoy to Transdniestria.

Steve Fitzpatrick and the officers have pledged their help with obtaining
and financing two vehicles and four drivers, two from Telecom, two from the
postal side of Eircomm.

Alex also met with the Belfast branches of CWU during the recent May Day
Rally. They have also shown interest in joining the September 2007 convoy.

This could turn out to be a truly historic occasion both for CWUHA and all
of Ireland. A banner was commissioned to commemorate the Rally and the
growing cooperation from both sides of the Irish Sea. See photo of Any Kerr
CWU UK National president and Steve Fitzpatrick General Secretary CWU
Ireland proudly displaying the banner.

In between convoys three CWUHA Trustees will visit Tanzania where a special
project to build a schoolroom in Kilima Hewa, financed by CWUHA is now
opened. . The schoolroom will offer education for previously,
disenfranchised village children. In 2007 CWUHA will sponsor 20 children's
education, at the St. Andrews School in Moshi Tanzania. This sponsorship
will feature heavily at the 2007 CWU conference, please ask at the stand for
details. New CWUHA projects for the future will be explored during this trip

In October 2007 two more Trustees will visit Tanzania to help with the
children's education and with local building projects. BT has sponsored
these visits so they are at nil cost to the charity's meagre funds.

How can you help?

Ask if your branch is affiliated; affiliate yourself for only £5.00 per
year. CWUHA has a policy of ensuring that each convoy has at least 50% new
drivers. Could you be one of that 50%? Most of our supporters will never
travel on a convoy but are still willing to help with fund raising and
gaining the Aid, thus helping to ease the lives of very impoverished
children and their families. Visit the CWUHA stand at conference, give
generously to the bucket collection. We can assure you that 95% of the
monies donated to CWUHA are spent on the needy children
