An Historic Day for CWUHA
An historic meeting took place in Dublin at Eircom HQ between CWU (UK), CWU (RIO) and senior management from An Post and Eircom to finalise the agreement for their support of the September convoy by supplying two vehicles inc fuel cards, Insurance and international cover and the release of four employees to travel on the convoy. The companies also pledged to do all they can to help raise the items and the profile of the convoy in their respective companies.
CWUHA representatives at the meeting Carl Webb & Alex Pearson were delighted with the level of co-operation pledged by An Post and Eircom and the genuine enthusiasm shown by the managers in attendance.
This is an historic and important step for CWUHA with partnerships reached for the first time with both unions and companies outside the UK allowing CWUHA to build on there successes to date and more importantly access to new resources to help more needy children in Europe and Africa
CWU (RIO) sees this as a long-term partnership and has already raised thousands of Euros for this and future projects. Many of the items requested to go into the back of the trucks for September have already been acquired. The generosity of their members, families, friends and branches has been absolutely amazing. I know it is a cliché “but this will be by far the best convoy ever”.
