A Partnership Made in Heaven
(A Dream Fulfilled)

Since 1919 Simpson Millar (Solicitors) have been representing CWU (UCW & UPW) members on a whole range of legal matters mainly personal injury claims and employment law advice.

For the last 9 years Simpson Millar have been supporting CWUHA’s work, whether that was by funding the purchase of aid, sponsoring special building projects, CWUHA AGM, fund raising events, our website, or giving us free legal advice. They have become one of CWUHA’s most loyal and trusted friends.

Six years ago Simpson Millar decided that they wanted to become even more directly involved and decided to sponsor a vehicle driven by two of their employees. Since then bar last year employees of Simpson Millar have joined CWU Members in delivering aid to needy children in Eastern Europe. In 2003 David Harington who was the then Senior Partner travelled on a convoy and in 2004 was elected as a trustee. At present Lisa Sheldon a partner who works out of the Manchester office sits on the Executive Committee.

Simpson Millar always ensures that all employees who are involved in fund raising events are given the opportunity to travel on the convoy, whether they are a Secretary or Partner in the company. Amanda Davies a Personal Assistant in the Wimbledon office has travelled on two convoys in 2005 & 06 and continues to work tirelessly for the charity. The vast majority of their employees will never travel on a convoy but they still continue to help raise funds by holding raffles and organising auctions in the workplace. This year 5 employees ran the Manchester 10k Run in sumo suits to raise money for the convoy.

The drivers this year are Ricki James a solicitor who works out of the Cardiff office and the Managing Partner, Peter Watson who has been desperately trying to go on a convoy for the last five years. Peter finally got permission from his fellow partners and more importantly his wife. Peter, David Harrington and their fellow partners (past & present) have always gone that extra mile in supporting the work we do and we are so pleased that Peter will finally get a chance to see first hand the great work we have been doing for the last 13 years with Simpson Millar’s help.

Don’t forget to bring your marigolds with you Peter you’re on washing up duty in the Chuck Wagon!
